The Drop Off Depot at the Public Works Yard (100 Hilke Road) will be open regular hours from 10:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 during the planned power outage.
BC Hydro has advised that a planned power outage has been scheduled on Saturday, February 24, 2018 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to the Industrial Site and neighbouring properties (Clayworks, The Lodge) Public Works Yard and neighbouring areas on Hilke Road (ball fields, Marling Fieldhouse etc.) and the Heber Heights Subdivision (Matchlee Drive, Elkhorn Drive, Golden Hinde, Conuma Drive, Mt. At the Regular Council Meeting held Monday, December 4, 2017 Council approved entering into a Municipal Service Agreement with the Strathcona Regional District for Building Inspection Services. Given the challenges of maintaining a qualified Building Inpector in Gold River this appears the most consistent option for Gold River to continue to provide building inspection services. At the Regular Council Meeting held Monday, September 18, 2017 Council received the Administrator's report regarding the Off Leash Dog Park Area in Nimpkish Park. Click here to read the full report. Council passed a resolution that the Nimpkish Park Off Leash Dog area be open on a seasonal basis, effective Friday, September 22, 2017. Signs will be posted advising off leash dogs are permitted within the inside oval of the Nimpkish Park running track. The Dog Park will be closed to off leash dogs effective April 30, 2018 while Council reviews the redevelopment plans for Nimpkish Park. This item will be brought back to Council in September 2018 if no permanent plans have been finalized for an Off Leash Dog Park at that time.

The Comox Strathcona Regional Solid Waste Board has recently implemented an Illegal Dumping Program. A new web page has been created in support of the program which can be found here. The information online includes a list of disposal fees for commonly dumped items, in order to dispel the myth that illegal dumpers do so because of the cost of tipping fees. The Recycling Council of BC has developed a survey to better understand the issues of general recycling in BC. The general recycling survey contains 20 questions and is meant for residents of BC communities. The survey will be available to access until July 7, 2017. BC Hydro has advised of a planned power outage on Saturday, March 18, 2017 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The outage will affect all customers in Gold River.
